Åsenhuset is the oldest house in Bjerkreim, and an important site of cultural heritage in Bjerkreim municipality.

The house used to be a farmhouse. It is located just in between Helleland and Bjerkreim, close to the ancient priest route - the old road between the vicarage and the church in Bjerkreim. From the 1300s and up until this century the priest travelled this route through the courtyard of the farm when he was preaching in the church in Bjerkreim.

The courtyard and the buildings of Åsen are all good examples of how the farms used to look in the old days. The oldest part of the Åsenhuset dates from 1740 and has been carefully restored in 2002. The farm is located in a unique and well-preserved cultural landscape with no traffic.

Drive the E39 between Helleland and Bjerkreim, take the exit at Saglandsbakken and drive until you arrive at the farm Åsen.
