- This cycling tour cannot be completed in 2024. Due to increased risk of rockslides, the distinctive hairpin bends are unfortunately closed to all traffic, including cars, cyclists, and pedestrians for the remainder of the 2024 season.
From Åndalsnes, you follow the west side of the Rauma river. At Soggemoen, turn right up Isterdalen valley. You will now see the iconic mountains Bispen, Kongen and Dronningen (the Bishop, the King and the Queen) ahead of you. You come to Trollstigen Camping og Gjestegård in the middle of the valley, which makes for a perfect stop for refreshments. There are great views from here of both Trollstigen road and Stigfossen water - fall, your next ports of call. The valley narrows and the mountains tower as you approach the valley floor.
The Trollstigen road comprises 11 spectacular hairpin bends up the mountain- side to the plateau where you will also find Trollstigen café. The viewing platform above the perpendicular drop of the Stigfossen waterfall is well worth.
- There’s a lot of traffic during the high season, so ask for advice from your accommodation provider before you set off.
