The small island of Helgøy in the Årdalsfjord has a mainland connection with Grønvik on Fister.
The island is known for its fertility of apples, pears, cherries - and children! The Helgøy family lives on the two fruit farms and together they have planted around 35,000 fruit trees using the modern dense planting principle.
The main season is from flowering in May until the last apples are harvested at the end of October. This is when the island is bustling with activity, and the experiences are many and varied for the eyes, the sense of smell and not least for the taste buds!
The Epleriet function room is open by appointment. They welcome groups from 20 to 120 people.
The visit often starts with a stroll through the orchard, with tastings of juices and fruit. Afterwards, you can have lunch or dinner while enjoying the panoramic view of the orchard and the Fisterfjord from Epleriet.
In the farm shop you can buy fruit, apple juice, jam, tinned fruit and home-knitted garments.
You can get to Helgøy by car or boat. Helgøybakkane Fruktgard can organise boat transport with or without sightseeing.
