The idyllic fishing village Grip, is located in the Atlantic ocean, 12 km northwest of Kristiansund. Until 1964 this was Norway`s smallest municipality. Grip has a long and partly dramatic history as a fishing village and is probably Nordmøre`s oldest village. The island is currently without permanent residents, but the beautiful houses are well taken care of and used as holiday homes. In the middle of the fishing village, lies Grip Stave Church from 1470, a big attraction. On the neighbouring island, is Grip lighthouse, built in 1888. This is Norway`s second highest lighthouse with 44 meters. In the summer season, there are daily tourist tours including guiding to the fishing village of Grip.

Visit Grip? Take the boat Gripruta, which has daily departures in the summer season.
