Equipped with a state-of-the-art electrical bike and a helmet, your guide will bring you safely through the city center at a comfortable pace to the northern part of the city. You bike through the main shopping street, Haraldsgata, and will stop at the iconic Fishermen statue where you can take photos while your guide describes the fishing culture and the huge effect herring has had on the city.

The second stop will be at the statue of Harald Fairhair. Learn more about the rich Viking history of the area from the vantage view of the straits that served as the highway of the seas in past times.

As you cycle further north towards the National Monument, Haraldstøtta, you cycle through a residential area to give you a real feel for the homes and lives of the locals. The National Monument is an ode to King Harald Fairhair – the Viking king that unified Norway into one kingdom 1150 years ago. It is believed that Harald Fairhair is buried in this area. Here you will have time to take in both the monument and Krosshaugen, the stone cross that dates back 1000 years.

You continue to cycle along the coastal road by the sea to the stunning horse sculptures rising from the water. The sculptures called “The Rising Tide” are by Jason de Caires Taylor. The exhibition was moved from London to Haugesund in 2019 and placed near Haraldstøtta.

On the return, you bike along the coastline of the North Sea where you will be able to see some of the local islands far out in the horizon. Your guide will lead you through the residential area and town once more, bringing you safely back to the starting point.
