Apple farm by the Sunnmøre Alps and the Hjørundfjord
Hjørundfjord Fruktpresseri is located at the innermost part of Hjørundfjord, surrounded by the Sunnmøre Alps and wild nature. There is a long season for visiting the farm, from the blossoming in mid-May, through a lush summer, until the apples are ripe and the harvest begins in September.
Guided tour and tasting by appointment
Hjørundfjord Fruktpresseri offers guided tours of the farm and tastings by appointment. Contact us to schedule a time. During the tour, guests will hear the exciting history of the farm and the village, about cultural heritage, and strong roots. Feel free to combine the tour and storytelling with a hike in the beautiful nature. At the farm shop, you can purchase various types of apple juice. Additionally, the farm supplies apple juice to several restaurants and eateries.
Award-winning apple juice
Hjørundfjord Fruktpresseri has 3,500 apple trees and its own press where award-winning apple juice is produced. In 2023, the apple juice was awarded gold standard in Norway's Best Drink and received 3rd place for both the "Aroma" and "Discovery" juices produced on the farm.
Farming for nine generations
At Viddal, people have lived by and with nature for all times, and the farms have been passed down for many generations. As the 9th generation in Pe-garden, hosts Inga and Espen Hodne Viddal have established themselves with apple cultivation, following in the footsteps of their ancestors who ran this farm before them. Planting started in 2020, and the farm is still in a development phase. The farm is operated according to organic principles, with the goal of making the products as pure and sustainable as possible.
Combine a fjord cruise on the Hjørundfjord with a farm visit
The finest way to reach Viddal is by boat on Hjørundfjord. Hjørundfjord Fruktpresseri has regular partners offering boat transport from Sæbø, Øye, Solavågen, or Ålesund. The hosts welcome guests at Viddal pier by the fjord and walk together through the village up to the farm. Alternatively, there is a road from Stryn/Volda via Bjørke. Parking for buses is limited, so the best way for groups to visit is by boat.
