These more than 2000 m² will cast light and shadow on the dramatic years when Norway was occupied by Germany – a time full of fear for the future, resistance and creative solutions to every day problems. Imagine pitch-black streets with lantern painted white where the night watcher leads the way under the moonlight.
In these dark times, creativity was brought to life: shoes with cardboard soles, tobacco plants in the living room and a pig in the basement. Your guide will take you through the scenes of war and vast collections of civil and military clothes, canons and battle wagons. Among the reconstructed house facades, you will hear stories of the Gestapo control, illegal newspapers and secret radio agents.
You will stop at a beautiful viewpoint where you can even spot the North Sea and the Folgefonna glacier and understand why this coastal area was so important to the Germans.
Duration: 3 hours.
