What can I see and experience at Haugesund Museum of Fine Arts?

The museum's collection has been built up over more than a hundred years and is centred on artists and artworks associated with Western Norway. The museum also has a rich collection of high-pressure art by national and international artists.

The art gallery is also the venue for the sales exhibitions of Haugesund Kunstforening, one of the country's most active art associations.

In the art museum you'll find a shop, activities for children and young people, and a small café.

What are the opening hours at Haugesund Museum of Fine Arts?

The museum is open all year round. In spring and autumn, the museum is open on selected Mondays when there are cruise ships in town. In summer, the museum is open every day.

  • Spring 2024: Tuesday - Saturday 12:00-15:00, Sunday 12:00-17:00. Monday closed.
  • Opening hours summer (17.06-11.08): All days: 11:00-15:00.
  • Autumn 2024: Tuesday - Friday 12:00-15:00, Saturday - Sunday 11:00-15:00. Monday closed.

How long does it take to walk from Our Saviour's Church (Vår Frelsers Kirke) to Haugesund Museum of Fine Arts?

Haugesund Museum of Fine Arts is located 750 metres from Our Saviour's Church (Vår Frelsers), in the centre of Haugesund. It takes about 12 minutes to walk at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you can make a stop at Havnaberg senior centre and take great pictures of the first king of Norway "Harald Hårfagre".
