At Heit Sauna Bergen use a Finnish wood-burning heater that holds between 60 and 80 degrees. By pouring water on the rocks in the heater you can achieve a higher temperature if you wish. We recommend cooling down in the sea with a bath all year round. The temperature in winter is about 3 degrees and in summer around 18 degrees. Swimming is at your own risk, but there is always staff present at the saunas.
Sauna is perfect after physical activity to unwind and find peace. The sauna is also a popular place for birthday celebrations and bachelorette parties. It's just as nice if are 2 people or if you are 10.
There are two saunas on the floating pier. Sauna number 1 has a maximum capacity of 8 people and Sauna number 2 has a maximum capacity of 12 people.
You can choose whether you want to book an hour in a shared sauna (drop in class) or a private sauna. Select between a 50 minute visit or 1 hour and 50 minute sauna experience.
You must wear swimwear in the sauna and sit on a towel. Showers and rest room facilities are in the building next door. We recommend bringing two towels if you want to shower afterwards. We have towels and bathrobes for hire. (Select as an optional extra when making your booking.)
There is no lower age limit for children, but children, pregnant women and seniors must only be in the sauna for short periods at a time. You must be in good health and be able to swim if you want to enjoy a dip in the sea.
We recommend bringing water to drink during the sauna session. It is allowed with a maximum of two small units of alcohol. (beer/wine or cider.)
Booking:
The sauna class must always be booked in advance (12 hours) and paid for online with a bank card or Paypal
How to get to the sauna:
The sauna is located 5-10 minute walk from the Bergen Light Rail stop called Florida, behind the Bergen Science Center Vil Vite by the sea. If you walk from the center, it takes about 25 minutes from the Tourist Information. If you arrive by car, it takes 5 minutes to drive from Bergen city center. There is good parking nearby for a fee.
