Cross the road above the school and follow Sukkertoppvegen westward until you see the sign marking the trailhead, located just to the right after house number 22. The gravel path turns into a trail that leads through a small wooded area. From there, follow the well-marked trail — which can be a bit muddy when wet — all the way to the top. When you pass the radio mast, you’re about halfway there. An unforgettable panoramic view awaits you at the summit!
Transport and Parking
From Ålesund city centre, you can drive, cycle, or take the bus to Hessa. Due to major construction activity until summer 2025, there are some temporary limitations. However, once the outdoor area near Osane Sports Hall is scheduled to open in June, parking will become available there. More information will be provided when ready.
In the meantime, here are some useful tips:
- Car: Avoid parking at bus stops, construction zones, sidewalks, or along the road. This can cause unnecessary and dangerous situations.
- Bike: You can leave your bike in the schoolyard, but only outside school hours.
- Bus: Use the Hessaskaret Syd bus stop, which has several departures and is located close to the trailhead. Bus routes from Ålesund city centre are available at www.frammr.no.
