Borrow a rowing boat in Haugesund and explore the city island of Vibrandsøy (only accessible by boat) or row along Smedasundet to see the city from the sea. The boat is docked at Dokken Museum and is provided by Friluftsrådet Vest.

How many people can the rowing boat accommodate?

The free rowing boat can accommodate up to 4 adults or 2 adults with 3-4 small children. Please note that the boat is borrowed at your own risk.

Is there an age limit for borrowing the rowing boat?

You must be 18 years old to borrow the boat, and children must always be accompanied by an adult.

Where do I reserve the boat?

To borrow the rowing boat, you need to book it in advance either at Dokken Museum or Haugesund Tourist Information during their opening hours. To reserve the boat, you'll need to provide the name of the responsible borrower, a telephone number, the names of the others in the boat, the rowing route, whether you need to borrow life vests, and the expected time of return. To reserve, please contact:

It is free to hire the rowing boat in Haugesund.

How long can I keep the boat when I borrow it?

The boat is loaned on an hourly basis, and you may use it for a maximum of one full day. Please remember to specify the period you want to borrow the boat for when making your reservation.

When can I borrow the rowing boat?

The rowing boat is available from mid-June to mid-September.

Mandatory equipment when borrowing the rowing boat

Borrowers must wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid. A selection of vests is available at the dock. Remember to mention whether you need this when making your reservation.

What should I do if the boat is damaged when I need to use it, or if I damage it during the trip?
