It is recommended to walk from Lysefjorden Tourist Lodge and follow the paved road for 2.4 km into the valley. Alternatively, you can drive to the turning point/lime kiln and continue the trail from there.
From the end of the road in the innermost part of Lysebotn, there is a T-marked circular route that goes into the valley along Lyseelva and Monakvitla. If you choose to walk the loop clockwise, you cross the second bridge and continue across the grassy plain, Moen. Here, you might encounter a flock of grazing wild sheep. Cross the river on stepping stones and continue through a magical mossy green coniferous forest until you reach a distinctive suspension bridge called Stokken. Just beyond this bridge, the Setesdal Vesthei Ryfylkeheiane landscape protection area begins. However, the T-marked trail turns the other way and follows the river back under and partially through Vadlalia. The trail is easy to follow, but in some places, using your arms to climb over certain stones at the bottom of the slope may be helpful.
From the turning point at the end of the road, the round trip takes 30-60 minutes, while it takes about 1-1.5 hours if you start from the pier/Lysefjorden Tourist Lodge. This is a nice hike with varied scenery and flat terrain suitable for the whole family. There are excellent opportunities for a break or a refreshing swim in the river.

From the end of the paved road at the innermost part of Lysebotn, follow the T-marked trail until you reach a specially marked suspension bridge where it is possible to cross the river and return via the large Aursletta (Moen) area. This is a circular hike of approximately 1.5 hours.
