Suldalslågen, one of the longest rivers of Rogaland county, comes to an impressive conclusion at Sandsfossen falls. This waterfall at Sand is not particularly high, but it is broad – and the roar of the force of nature here is almost deafening. A couple of minutes walk from Sand village centre takes you to the falls. Situated nearby is the areas greatest tourist attraction, the Salmon Studio, with parking and an attractive rest area. Around the falls you can enjoy the old salmon latter, and look closely at old fishing devices. Water volume: 55–72 m3 per second (regulated in the summer). The Salmon Studio is open in the summer – Sandsfossen can be savoured year round.
Høsebrua bridge lights up beautifully on dark autumn and winter nights and leads to the recreational area across the river. The bridge won Bridge of the Year from Travel + Leisure Magazine in 2014. Architect: Sami Rintala/ Eggertsson og Ivan Kroupa.
