Klippfiskkjerringa is a tribute to the many women who worked at the clipfish cliffs in the city. For 300 years, clipfish was the most important industry in Kristiansund, until the 1950s. The sculpture was made by sculptor Tore Bjørn Skjølsvåg and unveiled by HRH Queen Sonja on June 29, 1992.
