Abandoned on a small islet off Lågøy, you’ll find Lågøystolane—stone giants left behind by the glaciers that once covered Solund thousands of years ago. These stones give the landscape a unique character, unlike anywhere else.

The Solund Archipelago is the westernmost municipality in Norway, and with 1,700 islands, islets, and skerries, it is also the only true island municipality in Vestland County. Off the shores of Lågøy, you’ll find Lågøystolane—large stone blocks standing upright in a remarkable formation, believed to have been shaped by the ice during the last Ice Age. In earlier times, these stone giants served as an important maritime landmark for seafarers.

If you join a guided island-hopping tour in Solund, you’ll get to see Lågøystolane up close. While landing is not possible, you can capture stunning photos from the boat. Kayak tours to Lågøystolane are also possible with NKKA/Sognefjord Active, who offer guided trips.

For those exploring by private boat, Lågøystolane are just a 15-20 minute boat ride away. Please note that there is no dock at Lågøystolane.
