The tour then moves over mountains and moorland towards the sea. Here you'll find the best accommodation the region has to offer, knowledgeable guides and experiences galore!
Arrival and departure
Participants arrive individually at Stavanger International Airport, Sola, alternatively by boat to Risavika, or by bus or train to Sandnes or Stavanger. It is recommended that all participants meet at Kronen Gaard Hotel by 18:00 the evening before the first day of cycling, with pick-up and transport to the hotel available by arrangement. An NBE (Norway Bike Experience) staff member will meet participants at the airport or another agreed-upon location. Once gathered, the group will enjoy a welcome dinner and get-together, featuring an overview of the tour for the coming days and a presentation of guides and equipment. Bike fitting will also be organised as needed.
After the full tour, participants will spend their last night in Stavanger at the Hotel Victoria. Transport to Stavanger International Airport, Sola, will be arranged by NBE the following morning, with the departure time set according to the majority of the group’s flight schedules. For those wishing to leave earlier or later, an airport shuttle bus operates every 20 minutes from various locations around the city centre.
Day 1 – Welcome to the Fjords
- Sandnes to Sirdal – 60km
- Elevation: +1618m / -994m
Luggage is loaded onto the support vehicle, and after a hearty breakfast, participants depart from the hotel. Today’s cycling route is divided into two sections: Kronen Gaard Hotel to Lauvvik ferry dock and Lysebotn to Sirdal Høyfjellshotell. The ride to Lauvvik takes cyclists through gently hilly terrain on low-traffic roads, offering a taste of what lies ahead. From Lauvvik, participants board a boat to experience the stunning Lysefjord, with views of Preikestolen, Flørli, and the impressive Kjerag cliffs.
From Lysebotn, the route heads uphill with 27 hairpin bends and an average incline of about 10%, peaking at 15%. This challenging section is manageable thanks to the road’s design, and many cyclists find it easier than expected. A tunnel after the second hairpin requires lights, which are available on rental bikes or from the support vehicle. At Øygårdstøl, or the Eagle's Nest, located 640 metres above sea level, there is a water stop, snacks, and time to enjoy the views before reaching the summit at 932 metres. The day ends mostly downhill to Sirdal Høyfjellshotell, where participants can unwind and enjoy an evening in the firehouse with local cuisine from the hotel’s kitchen.
Day 2 – From the Mountains to the North Sea
- Sirdal to Egersund – 98km

Cyclists then continue through Gloppedalsura, Northern Europe’s largest boulder field, past Indre and Ytre Vinjevatn, with a coffee and snack break at Myksvoll Microbrewery before reaching Egersund. The journey transitions from high mountains to coastal terrain, with incredible scenic variety. Grand Hotel Egersund provides accommodation for the next two nights. In the evening, participants enjoy dinner and a photo recap of the day’s highlights, with optional activities such as a hike to Trollpikken, a visit to the Fayancemuseum, or a tour of Berentsens Brewery.

- Egersund to Egersund – 77km

From Egersund, cyclists follow RV44 to Hauge i Dalane and further to the Jøssingfjord for a tour of the Science Museum and Helleren, known for its unique “House Under the Rock” and WWII history. The route returns to Hauge i Dalane and continues to Sogndalstrand for a lunch stop at the cultural hotel. In the afternoon, participants ride through Rekefjord back to Egersund, all within the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark. Evening plans include a group dinner and photo review, with free time to explore Egersund.

Today’s route follows the coast, with stops at the art and culture centre Hå Gamle Prestegard for lunch before continuing past Norway’s longest white-sand beaches and farmland on the way to Sola. The day concludes with a stay at the historic Sola Strand Hotel, offering spa facilities for relaxation. Evening activities include a group dinner and optional adventures such as hiking along the Sola beach or trying kiteboarding, surfing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding.
