South of the mountain Eikelifjelet there is a flat and accessible area of ponds and sparse pine forests, a rare sight in the region in general. A former farm at Lundekvam and the farm road to the farm Kvelvane are cultural elements giving the area historic value.
There are several possibilities for roundtrips in the areas east of Hommersåk. The paths go through forests and open terrain and there are several nice viewing points, for instance, the mountains Eilifsfjell, Hommersåk, Vårlivarden, Torenipa, Bakkefjell and Storafjell. On the hiking trails, you will pass four lakes; Måketjørn, Grindavatn and the two lakes Lomstjørnene. The latter three have a history connected to the last world war. Along the hiking trail between Grindavant and Torenipa, you will pass a rock shelter. The trails can be rocky and marshy, therefore, not suited for prams or wheelchairs. Best suited for prams is the hike to the former Maudlandsgården farm where there is a lean-to with a barbecue area.
Transport: Bus no. 21 from Sandnes to Maudland, go off the bus at Hogstad if you wish to go to Storaberget or Grindavatnet.
