A world of discovery awaits you at the Archaeological Museum

Go thousands of years back in time and explore Rogaland's prehistory through exhibitions, guided tours, games, and activities. Visit the website for opening hours and ticket information.

Explore exhibitions that reveal skeletons and selected finds from the past

Among these, you'll find one of the best-preserved polar bear skeletons in the world, discovered and excavated from a cellar on the island of Finnøy. The museum also features beautiful jewellery and objects made by talented goldsmiths in the Viking Age.

The museum's artefacts carry stories and mysteries waiting to be explored. Don't miss the exciting guided tours that provide deeper insight into our prehistory.

The exhibition 'Fabulous Beasts - from the Iron Age and Viking Age' invites you on a magical journey back to Iron Age Scandinavia, to a time when a different relationship with animals shaped people's beliefs and imaginations, and importantly influenced the beautiful things they created, used, and surrounded themselves with.

After a fulfilling day, you can enjoy a well-deserved break at the museum's café Ask and Embla. Here you can savour a tasty cup of coffee, a delicious lunch, and tempting cakes while reflecting on the day's impressions.
