The bike ride to Mosvatnet starts from the “Kilen” area in Nesflaten, along the FV691 road. Take in the area as you pass it, as it was designed by the architect Geir Grung as a part of the Røldal Suldal hydro power development in the 1960s. Today it is one of the best-preserved areas in Norway showcasing functionalistic design.

You will exit the area by taking the narrow signature tunnel that leads you towards the most northern part of the Suldalsvatnet lake – the largest lake in the region of Rogaland.

As you continue, you will travel a few metres from the Suldalsvatnet lake for several kilometres. Here you will be able to take in the magnificent view of the lake, as well as a large waterfall. You will also pass the trail to the iconic mountain formation called Nipe, which is perfect for a hike.

After a while, the road will lead you up into the mountain areas on the eastern side of the Suldalsvatnet lake. Here you will find beautiful viewpoints, rivers and stunning nature.

After beating the 620 metres up to the Mosvatnet lake, you can take a well deserved rest.

The area is a popular destination for fishing, swimming and hiking.

Remember to buy a fishing permit and read up on the local fishing regulations.

The Norwegian Trekking Assosication (DNT) has a well establishing hiking network in the area.
