The waterfall walk starts from the centre of Geiranger, along the Geiranger river and up to the Norwegian Fjord Centre.
Here, you will get up close to the wild, beautiful river and hear the stories about how the forces of water have shaped the World Heritage landscape through thousands of years. You will also get an insight into how the pioneers in the village early saw the possibilities in the water forces – a lesser known fairy tale in the story of Geiranger.
The waterfall Storfossen is the major attraction along the way. Each season, the river changes, providing you with different experiences. In the spring, the snow is melting, with a lot of water in the rivers. When the river goes wild, you may even hear how the rocks roll and move. We must respect the enormous and dangerous forces, so therefore: keep your distance! In the winter, everything is frozen. During the blue hour, this his is almost magical.
