Pulpit Rock - stone sculpture
The Pulpit Rock stone sculpture has become a popular souvenir from the Pulpit Rock but also a symbol of Norway. The sculpture is often used as trophies in connection with sporting events. It is also a common representation gift among Norwegian companies. The stones are made of a local characteristic slate stone and they are sold in sizes of 13 cm and 21 cm.
Not far from the Pulpit Rock, is a small island called Randøy. In their quarry, they handpick the characteristic slate stone used in their product. Each stone bears the trace of the natural forces which, for thousands of years, have shaped the landscape and the people living in the region. Every miniature of the Pulpit Rock has a unique appearance, colour and shape which makes each stone one of a kind. It's produced locally in Stavanger.
