Suldal Municipality, Ryfylke
Follow the marked trail from Jonstølen towards Krossvatn. The trail goes through dense pine and birch forest, ascending along the roaring Jonsstølåna. The terrain opens up as you approach Kyrkjesteinsdalen. At lower Reinadalane, take a left turn from the marked trail and follow the steep uphill path alongside the creek to a small tarn. Here, you will see that previous hikers have built small cairns (nødlinger) that show the way to the summit. The final part follows the mountain ridge, with small ice ponds on both sides.
Almost the entire hike takes place within the Dyraheio Landscape Protected Area. This is our largest protected area, characterized by a distinctive landscape and rich mountain flora. Dyraheio is part of the southernmost wild reindeer area in Europe. Visible traces of hunting, farming, and other traditional land use make Dyraheio especially valuable because so much has disappeared in the surrounding areas. The name clearly reflects what people have perceived as the essence of the plateau throughout history.
