The surface varies between gravel and needles from the surrounding trees, but most trails are easily accessible to strollers. In a clearing in the wood you will find an amphitheatre. There is plenty of places suited for a picnic along the trails. The area is pretty well sheltered, so there is no need to let bad weather stop you from going. To the west of Teigen is the cairn of Berge, Finnøy's second highest peak. Here you will find a stone cross, erected to mark the year 2000.
From the cairn of Berge and the picnic area at the Teigen entrance, the view of Boknafjorden is magnificent. Here you can see Talgje, Rennesøy and Stavanger. If you want to go for a longer hike, there is a marked trail from Teigen, via the cairn of Berge, and down to Kindingstadvågen. There you will experience the pastures so characteristic to Finnøy. You will also find birch gardens and more open areas with juniper, dog roses, holly and buckthorn. In summer, you will probably meet sheep, cows, calves and horses on your trip.
How to get there: After the Finnøy tunnel, take the second exit to the left by the sign Teigen. There are signs all the way to the top, where there are good parking spots.
