About the Tour

This tour is closely tied to the history of the Steelworks.

We begin at "Bruget" and walk up the picturesque Vågabakken, which was the heart of Ryfylke's town center until the 1970s. Along the way, we pass buildings that once housed bakers, butchers, and general stores—still in use and well-preserved today. At the top of the hill, we'll explore Trebyen, where stunning views await, along with stories about the Steelworks, the directors’ residences, and workers' barracks.

The tour continues back down to highlight the significance of Verkshotellet before leading us through Svenskebyen to Folkets Hus and Hammeren, where the tour concludes. Guests can then stroll back down to the seaside through a shopping area offering everything from groceries and clothing to an intriguing antique store. The area also features bakeries and cozy cafés.

Stories of Krokhøl's blacksmith and Obstfelder’s connection to the area will also be shared.
