In the spring months of 1274 there was great activity in the royal court at Holmen in Bergen.

Inside the large stone hall, many wise heads were gathered around King Magnus Håkonsson. On the benches in the window sills on the hall's mezzanine floor, the king's advisers and scribes sat and worked on the new legislation, the Landsloven.
