The exhibitions are in three large halls

In an authentic hangar built by the Germans during World War II, close to 30 aircraft are on display. You will see German and Norwegian aircraft used during World War II, a consolidated PBY5A Catalina, Messerschmitt Bf 109 and several civilian classics from Norwegian aviation in the 1950s. Also shown here are parts of the Heinkel HE-115 which were lifted out of Hafrsfjord in 2012 and is currently being restored.

Exhibition of fighter jets

In a brand new hall, opened in 2024, the exhibition “We who flew during the Cold War” is shown. Eight fighter jets are displayed together with stories about the pilots who flew them.

The Torpedo workshop

The third hall is the “Torpedo workshop” Here you will meet eight different personal stories from World War II, as well as objects from the war.

Douglas DC-6B

One of the most talked about aircraft is outside the museum – a Douglas DC-6B that was used by Braathens in the 60s and 70s. The plane was flown from Alaska to Stavanger in 2020.

The museum is largely run by volunteers who put a lot of work into restoring aircraft. Several of the aeroplanes the volunteers have restored are unique also in an international context.
