The duo consists of 5 km by foot / bike / car, followed by a walk beside or on 2500 lofty stair-steps. The return is in the same manner. If you don't wish to complete the whole power duo, you can just as easily stop after 5 km in the end of the valley and skip the stairs.
On this hike you'll get to experience essential power installations in Høyanger and see the community's power history unfold in the landscape. By the stairs you'll find Eiriksdalen power plant and K2 (pictured below), two generations of power plants where the former replaced the latter in 2014. At the top of the staircase you'll get a view of the valley towards Høyanger, and you'll see power installations which formed the very foundation for the industry that the town has sustained itself on through over 100 years.
Stay over at Larsgarden Tunhotell and on day 2 you can have a walking tour in a power community.
Day 2
The town of Høyanger is founded on power and power demanding industry. At Høyanger Industrial Town Museum you'll get an insight in how Høyanger went from being a small agricultural village, to almost overnight becoming a blooming industrial adventure in the early 1900s. Take a stroll in the town center.
