About the Tour

Exciting discoveries were made by archaeologists during preparations for the universal nature trail and bridge to the beautiful Jørpelandsholmen.

This walk will shed light on several historical periods, featuring performances by the Strand Cultural School. Through theater, stories of 20th-century settlers, Viking activities, and Stone Age findings will come alive.

Key themes of the tour include:

  • The island’s significance through history and today, its popularity, and its importance for quality of life and health.
  • Viking burial grounds, Stone Age artifacts, and how people lived 5,000 years ago, connecting us to our cultural heritage.
  • Development and settlement in modern times before the establishment of the steelworks.

Target Audience:
Everyone is welcome, but the tour is especially tailored for children. Young participants will gain insight into their local cultural heritage. Parts of the experience will be presented by children and youth, aiming to inspire curiosity, pride, and knowledge about the lives of their ancestors on the island.
