Utsira Lighthouse was first lit 15 August 1844 and is Norway's only remaining twin lighthouse. Today, only one of its towers is still in operation. The lighthouse stands on the highest point of the island and, being 48m above sea level, it is the highest-placed lighthouse in Norway. Utsira Lighthouse has been providing weather observations for the Norwegian Meteorological Institute since 1867.
