The Vågsberget Inn and Trading Post is among the best preserved of its kind. There used to be a number of inns and trading posts along the coast, offering travellers a safe haven and a place to sleep. Still, the main economic advantage was in the special trade privileges.
Vågsberget was strategically placed near the rich Torskangerpollen and Vågsvågen fisheries, making it an important part of the fish processing and export business. Goods were traded here as early as the 1600s. The current buildings are from the late 1700s and early 1800s.

During the summer season, you’ll be able to access the historical building interiors, including the stately main residence and the well-stocked general store. We have experienced guides who can show you around the area.
The administration building has a simple but picturesque café. Here, we also offer temporary exhibits of art or cultural history. The complex is surrounded by a beautiful outdoor area, including a park, a beach and sanitation facilities.
