Kystbussen (NW400) is part of Nor-Way Bussekspress' nationwide route network and departs from early morning to late evening. Kystbussen between Bergen, Haugesund and Stavanger takes you easily from city centre to city centre along the beautiful west coast of Norway. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the trip in the state-of-the-art buses with adjustable seats, power outlets and toilets on board.

Where can I find the timetable?

You can find the timetable on Kystbussen's website. Please note that not all Kystbussen departures stop in Haugesund. You are also welcome to visit Haugesund Tourist Information at Haraldsgata 131, where tourist hosts will be happy to help you.

Where do I buy a ticket?

We recommend that you buy your ticket in advance on Kystbussen's website. This ensures you a seat on the bus and is often cheaper than buying a ticket on board. The ferry ticket is included in the bus ticket.

When a fully paying adult and 1 child (6-17 years) travel together, Kystbussen offers a discount. To activate the discount, add 1 adult and 1 child to the route search. They also offer a family ticket, so tick the ‘I have a discount code’ box in the route search and use the Familie discount code .

How long does the bus journey take?

The journey from Bergen to Haugesund takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, and from Stavanger to Haugesund takes approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Both journeys include one ferry journey each. Please note that travel time may vary slightly depending on the route and departure time.

How much luggage can I take with me on Kystbussen?

Included in your Kystbussen ticket, you can bring 2 pieces of luggage (max 30kg). You can also travel with extra luggage for a fee of NOK 50 per item, if there is room in the bus's luggage compartment. Read more about this here.

Can I bring my bike on Kystbussen?

If you want to bring a bicycle on Kystbussen, you can now reserve space for this. The bike is placed in the boot of the bus. Read more about this here.

Can I bring animals on Kystbussen?

It is not permitted to bring animals on the bus. Exceptions are made for guide- and service dogs.

Are there child seats on the bus and can I bring a pram?

There are two child seats on each bus for children weighing between 8-20kg, as well as two car cushions for older children. Child seats can be reserved together with the ticket. We recommend that you bring your own seat for children under 8kg.

If there is room, prams can be brought along. The pram must be folded and transported in the boot of the bus.

Universal design

The vast majority of buses have wheelchair lifts. If you are dependent on assistance on the road, such as a wheelchair lift, Kystbussen asks that you contact them here the day before departure.
