What this cabin lacks in modernity, it makes up for in charm and snugness. You can rent this simple and charming cabin on the south side of Lysefjorden and have it all to yourself. The cabin is a short walk up from the modern cabins at Skåpet.
The cabin was built in 1917 and has one bedroom with two beds. There are also two bunk beds in the living room, providing sleeping space for four more. In total, there are six sleeping places in the cabin.
DNT Gamle Skåpet is a rental cabin, and you book the whole cabin for yourself. There are simple kitchen facilities with a 2-burner gas stove and equipment for basic cooking. There is also firewood for the stove inside the living room. There is no food storage in this cabin.
The cabin must be booked in advance and is locked with its own key. The key is collected at the Tursenteret in Stavanger before departure.
To reach DNT Gamle Skåpet, drive your car to Øvre Espedal and continue on the country road to Vinddalen. From here, it's about a 1.5-hour walk to the cabin. It is conveniently located on the route, Lysefjorden rundt, with further markings to Fossmark and Flørli.
