Norway's most beautiful mountain valley
No car traffic, the sound of waterfalls and lakes surrounded by majestic mountains - here you can really find peace.
Innerdalen is known for its beautiful nature, and has many good hiking options. Most famous is mount Innerdalstårnet, which lies there like a cathedral with it´s 1,394 meter high natural spire. In the valley, the crystal clear water glistens and streams rush down from the glaciers. A network of marked DNT hiking trails leads out and into the mountain.
Measurements have been made in the area which show that Europe's cleanest air and water can be found here. The valley is located northeast of Sunndalsøra in Trollheimen in the border areas between Møre and Romsdal and Sør-Trøndelag.
Maximum beauty per cubic meter
The well-known writer and philosopher Arne Næss has very enthusiastically stated about Innerdalen: - Maximum beauty and magnificence per cubic metre. The landscape changes unusually quickly when you move in the terrain and the distances are strikingly small per miracle, said Næss about Innerdalen in Nordmøre.
Waffles and farm life
Innerdalen is known for its good waffles and mountain people have been coming here for a long time. Today you can visit both the family-run summer farm Renndølsetra and DNT Innerdalshytta. Renndølsetra offers local food and both butter and sour cream are made on site. Here you can spend the night in both houses and barns - and every summer the yard is filled with cows, pigs, sheep and chickens that spend the summer in the mountains.
At DNT Innerdalshytta, Gammelhytta has been named one of the country's finest tourist cabins - the combination of an old, charming cabin and beautiful cultural landscape makes this a good place to stay. In the summer season, it is also possible to buy food at Innerdalshytta - Nyhytta. Here you can enjoy traditional Norwegian food, while the goats stroll around the yard.
