Alpine peaks and long descents. Summit tours in Nordmøre.
For many years, Nordmøre remained a hidden gem for skiers. Today, guides can introduce you to a wealth of summit tours, with numerous routes featuring more than 1,800 metres of vertical ascent and exceptionally long descents.
“When we started, Nordmøre felt like an undiscovered gem, which made it even more special to guide here. It's a complex area, but it also holds countless opportunities,” says Anne Stine.
Anne Stine and her team know this terrain intimately as certified local guides. They can guide you to the best skiing experiences, tailoring routes to your experience level, the conditions, and your preferences. With a guide, uncovering the mountain’s secrets and finding the finest snow is more accessible.
Find your way to the summit
Sunndalsfjella mountains
In the Sunndalsfjella mountains, as many as 23 peaks are towering over 1,800 metres. Much of this mountain area is part of the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park, offering a magnificent landscape that is both protected and pristine. With expert guidance, you can explore the classic routes or venture to lesser-known spots that reveal the mountains’ unknown treasures.
Innerdalen, Øksendalen, and Sunndal
Since the 1800s, members of the British upper class have travelled to the heart of Nordmøre to fish for salmon and spend time together. Today, you too can journey to Øksendalen to experience the dramatic mountain scenery, reach new heights, and enjoy the company of your travel companions. Philosopher Arne Næss once called Innerdalen “Norway's most beautiful mountain valley.” You will also find renowned peaks like Kongskrona and Dronningkrona (the King’s and the Queen’s Crown) here.
On a clear day atop Flånebba or Smisetnebba, the view stretches from Grip in the Atlantic Ocean to Snøhetta in the Dovrefjell mountains. Beyond the mountains, Nordmøre offers a range of other experiences. When you are ready for a change of pace, visit the coastal town of Kristiansund, explore The Atlantic Road, or stop by Svinvik farm for a taste of the region’s urban and seaside charm.
Sleep well between mountain hikes
Trollheimen and Surnadal
Trollheimen is a paradise for cross-country skiing. Here, you can follow the classic Trekanten route from cabin to cabin. Some peaks, like Snøfjellet, are accessible for guided mountain skiing as well. Surnadal is also home to Nordmarka, where you will find an illuminated trail, a biathlon centre, and the scenic hike to Løålikjølen with spectacular views over the Nordmøre mountains.
Ski centres in Nordmøre
In addition to summit tours, Nordmøre offers alpine slopes to enjoy at one of the region’s ski centres. Or, if you are up to it, why not both?
