Rambjøra is the highest point in Orta, and despite its modest altitude of 28 m.a.s.l. you are rewarded with an amazing view of Orta and the surrounding islands; Sandøya, Harøya, ona, Midsund and Aukra. On clear days you can see as far as Sunnmøre. The hike can be done year around, and if you are lucky, you might spot a couple of playful otters or observe the white-tailed eagles soaring in the distance.
The hike starts at Orta ferry port. Make a right past the postal office after a couple of minutes walking, and then make a left at the first intersection. Follow the road to the right as you approach a house with a particularly beautiful garden and continue straight through the next intersection. A cabin will appear on your left side, and soon the gravel path will transition into a softer and narrower path. From this point on, you will be able to see Rambjøra in the distance. The last leg of the hike goes through a swamp before the trail starts ascending. The view from the top is amazing!
The trip to Orta begins with a short ferry ride from Hollingsholmen ferry port to Aukra ferry port. Follow the signs towards Røssøyvågen and Småge ferry port, before getting on the ferry from Småge to Orta. You can leave your car in the parking lot at Småge ferry port.
