Haugesund Teater (HAUT) is Haugalandets regional theatre, with its main offices located in the heart of Haugesund. The theatre performs at HAUT scene in Smedasundet 98 while also touring around at local stages around Haugalandet. When producing larger productions, HAUT uses the main stage at Festiviteten.
The theatre was founded in 1986 by Brit Lossius, and is one of Norway's 23 state-funded theatres. HAUTs creative mission is to produce professional theatre productions that are both of high quality and relevant. The theatre produces 4 to 6 productions a year, for children and adults.
Despite being one of Norway's smallest, state-funded theatres, HAUT has gotten national attention after being nominated for Hedda-prize in both 2017 and 2018. HAUT leaves behind a vast amount of artist successes and a high critical acclaim – ready to phase the next few years.
HAUTs artistic directors get hired for a 4-year fixed-term period, and the current artistic director is director and playwright, Morten Joachim Henriksen.
