What to see and do

Nice walk around the Ådlandsvatnet. Suitable for the whole family.

Brandasund has a long history as a trading and lodging venue. The hike is first on path and the last part is stairs to the top.

A fabulous viewpoint – and an exciting geological area. The hike up the sherpa stairs takes about 1 hour to the top.

Via Ferrata Kyrkjeveggen is perhaps one of Norway's toughest? The route is about 900 metres long, and you'll be rewarded with beautiful views of the Åkrafjord on the climb.

A great hike for families - follow the path along the river in diverse terrain. From the top you'll have a nice view over Sunnhordland. Rest area at the start of the hike.

The cycling trip to the beautiful Haaheim Gaard starts at Malkenes quay, where the Hardangerfjord- ekspressen express boat calls on its way from Bergen to Rosendal.

A nice hike to Håfjellet mountain, available year round.

At Åkrafjorden Nature you can rent SUP boards (Stand-up paddle). The boards are designed by "Saltråk" in Karmøy, and are high quality inflatable SUP boards. Life jacket is included.

A hike to Vikefjell mountain along the postal road. From the top you'll have a great view in all directions, over the see and mountains.

Rent a bike at Fitjar and discover the nice surroundings.

A nice hike where you walk through forest, cross a small stream and walk past an old farm.

A nice hike on forest road and path to Nordfjell.

Along the way up the sherpa stairs you will have views of Huglo, Tysnes, the Kvinnherad mountains, Halsnøy and Borgundøy. You can even spot Folgefonna glacier.

The exhibition "Stones of Bømlo" (Steinriket Bømlo) is found in Moster Amfi.

The cairn is located high up with fantastic views over Fitjar village and islands. This is one of the largest prehistoric burial monument found in Hordaland.

Natural conditions in Sveio are ideal for canoe trips. The Vigdarvatnet lake has many fine creeks and islets. For further information, please contact the Tourist Information Office. Camp Ålfjorden has canoes for rent.
