Romsdalen is more than speed, steep mountains, and high altitudes. Nature here can also provide peace of mind and space for contemplation. There are lots of different walks and hikes suitable for everyone, young and old.

Rødven is a small village in Romsdalsfjorden’s neighbouring fjord, and there are two beautiful churches here: Rødven church and Rødven stave church, both located next to the water and surrounded by mountains. The oldest part of the stave church dates back to the 13th century.

Herjevatnet and the Poetry Walk

Adapted for prams, bicycles, wheelchairs, or regular walks: Lake Herjevatnet is a wonderful walk in quiet nature, close to the mountains. Along the path, you can stop and read poems printed on plates around the lake. The Poetry Walk was opened by Edvard Hoem in connection with the mountain festival Fjellfestivalen in 2020. The walk is 10 km around Herjevatnet Lake and takes about 3 hours.
