The Fjord Coast and Sunnfjord extend from the glacier in the east to the fjord and island communities in the west. It's never far between great experiences. You can find untouched nature, lots of space, thousands of islands, narrow fjords, glaciers, waterfalls and magnificent mountains rising straight up from the sea.
The region has a rich and interesting history, dating all the way back to the Stone Age. You can visit one of the biggest rock carving sites in Norway – Ausevika, or the biggest quarries in use in the Viking Age and Middle Ages at Hyllestad. On the saga island Kinn, you can visit the legendary Kinnkyrkja church dating from the 12th century. Astruptunet in Jølster and Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum in Førde offer a range of artistic impressions, as do other galleries and museums across the region.
Go your own way, and bring a kayak, bike, hiking boots, and a fishing rod! The Fjord Coast and Sunnfjord are perfect if you’re looking for adventure!
