Base your trip on the youngest child’s age!

The Norwegian expression Ut på tur, aldri sur literally means out walking, never sour. If you plan a family trip with your youngest child in mind, you too can enjoy a sweet trip! Instead of striving to reach mountain summits, make time for fun and games along the way, some generous breaks and take a few delicious treats with you. Make sure everyone is wearing the right clothing (see our packing list here) and enjoy the natural playground that is Fjord Norway.

Walks with babies and toddlers

The route obviously shouldn't be too challenging when going on a walk with very young children, but that doesn't mean it can’t be fun and exciting! A number of the walks below are pram and buggy friendly on all or part of the route, while a baby carrier is a good idea for others.

Walks and hikes with slightly older kids

As children get older and more used to walking and hiking, the routes can be longer and a bit steeper, but don’t forget that a good packed lunch, some chocolate and taking plenty of breaks will ensure everyone has a wonderful time!
